TradeForPrint.com makes it easier for photographers, models, makeup artists, stylists, designers, and other creative professionals to find each other and create together through TFP collaborations.
Here’s how it works.
1. Create Your Profile
Start by creating your free TradeForPrint.com profile.
Add information that helps other creators understand who you are and what you do, including your:
- Profile photo
- Primary creative role
- Location
- About Me information
- Portfolio
- Creative interests and experience
Your profile is your introduction to the TradeForPrint.com community.
2. Find Creators Near You
Use Find Creators to search for members near you.
Enter your ZIP code and choose how far you’re willing to travel.
You can view creators within the selected distance and see information such as their:
- Profile picture
- Name
- Primary role
- City and state
- Distance from your search location
- Completed collaborations
When someone catches your attention, open their profile to learn more about them and view their work.
3. Start a Collaboration
Found someone you’d like to work with?
Use their profile to send a collaboration invitation.
Tell them about the project you have in mind and provide enough information for them to decide whether they’re interested.
Be clear about what you’d like to create and what you’re asking them to contribute.
4. Discuss the Details
Before meeting, talk through the important details of the collaboration.
Discuss things such as:
- What you want to create
- Date and time
- Location
- Wardrobe
- Makeup and styling
- Equipment or props
- What each person is bringing
- Expected photographs or other finished work
- How the finished work may be used
Clear communication before the collaboration helps prevent misunderstandings later.
5. Keep It TFP
TradeForPrint.com is built around TFP — Trade for Print collaborations.
TFP means participants collaborate by contributing their time, talent, skills, equipment, clothing, makeup, or other agreed contributions rather than paying one another for participating.
There should be no surprise costs or required purchases.
If something unusual needs to be purchased, rented, or paid for, everyone involved should discuss it and agree to it beforehand.
6. Create Together
Once everyone agrees on the details, it’s time to collaborate.
Be professional. Be respectful. Show up prepared and on time.
Most importantly, work together to create something everyone involved can be proud to add to their portfolio.
7. Mark the Collaboration Complete
After the collaboration is finished, participants can mark it complete through TradeForPrint.com.
Both participants must confirm completion before the collaboration is officially recorded as completed.
8. Build Your Reputation
Completed collaborations become part of your activity on TradeForPrint.com.
As you successfully work with other members, your number of completed collaborations can appear on your profile and help other creators see your experience within the community.
Then you can find your next collaborator and do it all again.
